When you use a tin of sardines/tuna in sunflower oil etc. why pour the oil down the sink where it can clog up water treatment plants? Use it for frying onions for Bolognese sauce, curries etc. You won't notice a fishy taste in the finished dish, in fact anchovy paste is often used in Italian cooking as a flavour enhancer and this works in a similar way.

As I live in an electric only village I invested in a induction hob and halogen mini oven and have greatly reduced the amount I use for cooking...no more heating the big oven or grill for small meals
