The Climate Challenge Fund

The Climate Challenge Fund is all about supporting communities to tackle climate change by reducing their carbon emissions. Around 250 communities have been funded and are working hard now to deliver carbon emissions reductions.

There are no further funding rounds scheduled under the 2008-11 Climate Challenge Fund and the final fund allocations are now complete. We stopped taking new applications on the 14th January 2010. No decision has been made regarding the fund post March 2011, although a review has been commissioned and is now beginning to consider the performance of the 2008-11 fund. Results from this review will help inform the Scottish Government on future options for community carbon reduction.

If you'd like to find out more take a look at our case studies and list of projects we're funding to see how your community or others have already put Climate Challenge Funds to good use.

Although no new applications will be considered, this website will continue to be updated on a regular basis, highlighting the work being undertaken by communities who are receiving funding by the Climate Challenge Fund. This will include up to date information on Climate Challenge Fund events organised by the Sustainable Development Commission for Scotland.
